About our founder
Hi, my name is Kristen. My collective experience with being the parent of a dyslexic child, working as a general education teacher and dyslexia intervention teacher in public school, and working as an Academic Language Therapist at an elite private school for kids with dyslexia allowed me to see the profound need to radically reform the way dyslexic children are viewed and educated in our country.
Knowing that my impact would be limited if my only contribution came from working directly with students, I decided to open Happy Camper Learning Services.
Education
I earned my degree from Texas A&M University. I am certified to teach all core content areas from Early Childhood through 6th grade as well as Kindergarten through 12th grade Special Education.
The majority of my Academic Language Skills training has been through Neuhaus Education Agency in Houston. While it does not change my credentials, I cannot in good conscience leave off the most important education that I have received—that which I have learned from the children and families I have had the privilege of working with.
