Happy Camper Learning Services offers an array of services specifically designed for children with dyslexia, dysgraphia, executive functioning deficits (attention, memory, planning, etc.), and other learning differences.
We offer Orton-Gillingham based academic language skills tutoring, individualized academic coaching in all subject areas, day camps, and parent workshops.
Happy Camper Learning Services takes a holistic approach to guiding diverse learners to overcome their barriers to learning and capitalize on their innate strengths to reach their fullest potential.
We aspire to spark changes in the way that children with dyslexia and other learning differences are regarded and educated in our country. The catalyst for change is widespread understanding, so we are committed to sharing information and resources with families and educators.
Receiving appropriate intervention for dyslexia related challenges is just one component of what dyslexic children need to thrive.
We believe that celebrating and building upon children’s strengths, providing emotional support, and educating those that play a large role in dyslexic children’s lives is just as important as literacy skill instruction.
Happy Camper Learning Services partners with Renner Academy, the only school in the Brazos Valley that specializes in educating students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences.
Our 8 yr old has always struggled with school, especially with reading and writing. We finally got a dyslexia diagnosis just before 1st grade. The school we were with at the time did not meet her educational needs and independent dyslexia tutoring once a week wasn’t showing us much improvement. We moved to Happy Camper LS the second half of her 1st grade year. She is thriving in this learning environment. Since we started with Happy Camper LS her confidence and willingness to try new academic tasks has soared. She is reading and writing so much better, but just as importantly she is learning to love school.

My son started school with Ms. Kristen and Mrs. Bev this school year (20-21)! It’s the best decision we’ve ever made for his educational path! Due to being severely dyslexic, he has struggled so much in school, been very behind and battled with self-esteem. With the amazing teaching skills and techniques at HCLS he’s come leaps and bounds! They’ve been able to reteach gaps and see what his individual needs were! They even worked on his self-esteem! He’s more confident, tries to read and write more and is showing so much progress! They are truly gifted with being able to help kiddos! Such a blessing for our family! I highly recommend HCLS!

I have one daughter that started receiving services from Happy Camper Learning Services in June of 2020. Since attending I saw a great advancement in multiple areas of learning within 2 months of just part time tutoring. Since then I now have both of my daughters full time with happy camper learning services and they have tremendously advanced in communication skills, reading skills, vocabulary and decision making. If you have children struggling to learn I suggest happy camper learning services. They not only teach to how your child learns, if they can’t figure something out, they bring in outside resources. I am very satisfied with their services and am grateful for all of their help this year.

My son, Sam, has severe sensory processing disorder and Kristen was hired to assess academic strengths and weaknesses.
As Sam is very bright, he can often compensate so deficiencies are easily missed. Kristen’s assessment and intervention proved to be accurate and effective.
During her personal time, Kristen researched ways to help Sam. Kristen’s ability to think outside of the box and appreciate Sam’s individual gifts was key in the progress they made together. Kristen is passionate about helping kids learn to read. This letter is brief and only touches on the many reasons I’m happy to recommend Kristen.

Kristen is a very caring and conscientious professional who effectively balances challenging tasks with playful connection. She is meticulous about using assessment to target needed information and strategies.
Kristen was able to keep my daughter engaged and motivated, even after a long day of school or camp. My daughter loved playing games with Kristen—-games that reinforced skills and facts. I highly recommend her for dyslexia intervention!

Kristen is just a wonderful educator. She has a great gift of creating fun and creative methods in her teaching. This allows her students to be super engaged and have a ton of fun while learning difficult skills.
My daughter, Olivia worked with Kristen for a year and it was truly transformative. I now have a child who is so much more confident in her reading and is cultivating a true love of reading. We are so grateful!
